2015 has been an interesting year, working predominantly on two large theme park projects…
This year’s first project was to work on passenger rides for a theme park in China, including a single decker trolley bus and several slow-moving train rides. Design tasks included full modelling in SolidWorks, production of complete sets of manufacturing drawings, liaison with third party consultants, production of bills of materials, and sourcing of supplier quotes. Possibly the most challenging task, however, was presentation of the designs to the Chinese standards body CSEI, which required full design safety approval before the green light was given to manufacture. CSEI approval was received and the equipment is now in manufacture, for shipping to China in 2016.
The year’s second theme project remains highly confidential – although some news has now been made public. It’s a psychological ride experience for Thorpe Park conceived by Derren Brown, and he’s recently started some teaser advertising on social media. Here’s a Youtube clip… which doesn’t give much away!
The year ended with training on Creo 3 since there seems to be an increase recently on Creo contracts coming onto the market, plus I’m currently evaluating Onshape which seems set to shake up the 3D CAD world.
I currently have capacity for work, including over the Christmas period, so if you need additional resource (SolidWorks based, design of special purpose machinery) then please contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 0845 459 0805.
